Prof. Om P. Malik, University of Calgary, Canada (IEEE Life Fellow)
Professor Om P. Malik has done pioneering work in the development of controllers for application in electric power systems and wind power generation over the past over 50 years. After extensive testing, the adaptive controllers developed by his group are now employed on large generating units. His other interests include digital protection, control of renewable power generation and micro-grids, and AI applications in power system control. He has published over 800 papers including over 410 papers in international Journals and is the coauthor of three books: (1) Electric Distribution Systems, (2) Power System Stability, (3) Power Grids with Renewable Energy. Professor Malik graduated in 1952 from Delhi Polytechnic. After working for nine years in electric utilities in India, he obtained a Master’s Degree from Roorkee University in 1962, a Ph.D. from London University and a DIC from the Imperial College, London in 1965. He was teaching and doing research in Canada from 1966 to 1997 and continues to do research as Professor Emeritus at the University of Calgary. Over 100, including 54 Ph.D., students have graduated under his supervision. Professor Malik is a Life Fellow of IEEE, and a Fellow of IET, the Engineering Institute of Canada, Canadian Academy of Engineering, Engineers Canada and World Innovation Foundation. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Provinces of Alberta and Ontario, Canada, and has received many awards. He was Director, IEEE Region 7 and President, IEEE Canada during 2010-11 and President, Engineering Institute of Canada, 2014-2016.

Prof. Mo-Yuen Chow, North Carolina State University, USA (IEEE Fellow, IEEE IES Distinguished Lecturer)
Mo-Yuen Chow earned his degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.S., 1982); and Cornell University (M. Eng., 1983; Ph.D., 1987). Upon completion of his Ph.D. degree, Dr. Chow joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University as an Assistant Professor. He became an Associate Professor in 1993, and a Professor since 1999. Dr. Chow is a Changjiang Scholar and a Visiting Professor at Zhejiang University. He worked in U.S. Army, TACOM TARDEC Division as a Senior Research Scientist during the summer of 2003. He spent his sabbatical leave as a Visiting Scientist in 1995 in ABB Automated Distribution Division.
Dr. Mo-Yuen Chow is the founder and the director of the Advanced Diagnosis, Automation and Control Laboratory at North Carolina State University. His recent research focuses on distributed control, and fault management with applications on smart grids, PHEVs, batteries, and mechatronics/robotics systems. He has served as a Principal Investigator in projects supported by various federal agencies and private companies. He has published one book, seven book chapters, and over two hundred journal and conference articles.
Dr. Chow is an IEEE Fellow, a co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, was the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics 2010-2012, a co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, a past Technical Editor of IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics, a past Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics. He was the Vice President for Publication of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society in 2006-2007, and the Vice President for Membership of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society in 2000-2001. He was the General Chair of IEEE-IECON05, the General Co-Chair of IEEE-IECON10 and IEEE-ISIE12.
Dr. Chow served as a guest editor for the IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics Focus Section on Mechatronics in Multi Robot Systems (2009), IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics special sections on Distributed Network-Based Control Systems and Applications (2003), on Motor Fault Detection and Diagnosis (2000), and on Application of Intelligent Systems to Industrial Electronics (1993). He was a Senior Fellow of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in 2003. He has received the IEEE Eastern North Carolina Section Outstanding Engineering Educator Award in 2004, the IEEE Region-3 Joseph M. Biedenbach Outstanding Engineering Educator Award in 2005, the IEEE Eastern North Carolina Section Outstanding Service Award in 2007, the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Anthony J Hornfeck Service Award in 2013. He is a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE IES.

Prof. Z.Y. Dong, UNSW Sydney, Australia (IEEE Fellow)
Prof. Z.Y. Dong received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from The University of Sydney, NSW 2006, Australia, in 1999. He is currently a SHARP Professor in Energy Systems and the Director of UNSW Digital Grid Futures Institute, The University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, NSW, Australia. He was previously a Professor and the Head of School of Electrical and Information Engineering, The University of Sydney, and the Ausgrid Chair and the Director of the Ausgrid Centre for Intelligent Electricity Networks, The University of Newcastle, Australia providing R&D support for the Smart Grid, Smart City national demonstration project. His research interests include power system planning and dynamics, renewable energy systems, power system load modeling, electricity market, and computational methods in power engineering. He has been serving as editor/associate editor for a number of IEEE Transactions and IET journals. Prof. Dong is a Fellow of IEEE. He is Web of Science Highly Cited Research (2019,2020).

Assoc. Prof. Zhouyang Ren, Chongqing University, China (IEEE Senior Member)
Zhouyang Ren received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Chongqing University in June 2014. He is currently an Associate Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering, Chongqing University. His research interests include optimal operation and planning of low carbon power systems. He has completed and is undertaking more than 20 grants and projects from governmental organizations and industry. He is the recipient of a Chongqing Natural Science award. He has published more than 20 papers and holds 10 patents. Zhouyang Ren is a Senior Member of IEEE, an Editor for IEEE Trans. on Sustainable Energy and IET Renewable Power Generation, Vice-chair of IEEE PES (China) Renewable Energy Integrated Power System Dispatching Technical Committee, and a member of IEEE Standard 859 Working Group.
Invited Speaker I
Assoc. Prof. Yongxi Zhang, Changsha University of Science and Technology, China
Yongxi Zhang received the B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Changsha University of Science and Technology, Changsha, China in 2008 and 2011, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Information Engineering from The University of Sydney, Australia, in 2017, respectively. She is now with the school of Electrical and Information Engineering, Changsha University of Science and Technology. Her research interests include battery energy storage system and power system operation and planning.
She has published 29 SCI-indexed international journal papers. She is also an editor for Frontiers in Engineering, smart grid section. Currently she is leading a NSFC project and several provincial programs.
